A little about me:
I’m Anka Hoerster. As a teacher, coach, and nurse I support smart and sensitive people who are struggling with stress and overwhelm and who really want to find their way back home to more integration, balance and love.
Born as a curious, sensitive, and joyful child, I was encouraged to explore the world by my loving parents and healthy environment. I studied different arts, eventually receiving a Master’s degree in education, and meanwhile traveled the world by bicycle.
During many years working as a musician and nurse, my love for truth, depth, and wisdom grew and guided me to seven years of full-time meditation retreat within the Tibetan Buddhist tradition. There I received a thorough training in meditation and in the view that supports and underlies it.
Having studied and practiced meditation, yoga, and different coaching and somatic methods intensively, I wish to work and benefit others in our culture with those very same skills. This wish has led me to work especially with people who are dealing with the confusion of modern life, physical health issues, and stress of different kinds. Find more about my own story here.
In my work with the elderly and dying, I’ve learned about the depth and potential of our challenges. I am frequently amazed by the lives and wisdom of my clients, and I love to join them in their reflections and growth from their experiences.
I love to listen and I love to inspire slightly different approaches. It’s a great pleasure of my work to watch others’ clarity, presence and wisdom bloom.
“I began coaching with Anka, when I was stuck in a very complicated life situation. Her support and her recommendations were always heartfelt, realistic and very practical. She genuinely cared about me and my well-being. She allowed me to see how precious I really am and that I can believe in myself and my abilities – because that is what she sees in me. She brings in a myriad of experiences as she has been a musician, teacher, nurse, Buddhist nun to name a few and hence, can sympathize so easily with anyone from all walks of life. This experience still helps me to see my bigger picture and find my real solutions. She is a sacred gem that has enriched my life forever.” – NM, MD in family medicine
“I have worked with Anka on and off for the past 7 years. When I first met her, I was overwhelmed and lived in an unsustainable way. I did not know how anyone could be that loving and positive. I thought it must be a trick, or she must be hiding something, but I started the work anyway. Now I can say it’s not a trick, and she hides nothing. Instead she is loving and coaching from her heart, and it is a very wise one. Loving and simple, warm and clear, unconfused. She has a gift to change lives for the better, as she has mine.” – MV, LPCC, clinical counselor
